FlixBus commences partnership with Kangaroo Bus Lines for its Brisbane-Sydney line
The daily service will offer the fastest coach connection between Sydney and Brisbane from 1 October 2026
SYDNEY, Australia: FlixBus, Australia's fast-growing interstate coach service known for its iconic green buses, today announced a new partnership with Kangaroo Bus Lines (KBL) as it continues to expand its network along Australia's East Coast.
Under the partnership, the Queensland-based bus and coach company will run FlixBus's Brisbane-Sydney express coach service, commencing 1 October 2026 with one service in each direction per day, increasing to two daily services from 5 November. Beyond the Brisbane stop, the route will extend to Caboolture, making FlixBus the only coach provider to connect the popular backpacker destination directly with Sydney.
Along the way, the service connects some of the East Coast's best-loved coastal spots, from Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour to Byron Bay and the Gold Coast, providing easy, affordable access to popular beach and holiday destinations.
Kangaroo Bus Lines, a family-owned and operated organisation with more than 47 years of experience, has built a solid reputation for reliable passenger transport in Queensland and beyond.
"We pride ourselves on our long history of moving people and connecting communities," said Darren Webster, Chief Executive Officer at Kangaroo Bus Lines. "Joining forces with FlixBus Australia is an exciting opportunity to bring more travellers a reliable, high-quality way to journey between Brisbane and Sydney. Partnering with a global tech mobility brand like FlixBus allows us to modernise and innovate our operations and opens up new opportunities for growth - expanding our business and creating local jobs - all while continuing to support the Queensland communities we've served for nearly five decades."
The new service will become the fastest coach connection between Sydney and Brisbane, running in around 14 hours and giving travellers a quicker, more convenient way to make the trip. Northbound, the departure is timed for the end of the day in Sydney, so travellers can leave at night and arrive the next morning, ready to make the most of the day. Southbound, the daytime service gives backpackers and holidaymakers a scenic way to take in the east coast, arriving at popular coastal stops during the day.
"We're very excited to begin this partnership with Kangaroo Bus Lines. As we further expand our footprint in Australia, we're continuously looking for trusted local bus partners who can deliver the highest quality of service to customers," said Yvan Lefranc-Morin, Senior Managing Director at FlixBus Australia. "Kangaroo Bus Lines’ decades of experience and strong commitment to safety mean travellers can count on a comfortable, reliable journey between Brisbane and Sydney. Together, we're giving more Australians a better way to travel along the East Coast."
This new partnership strengthens FlixBus Australia's East Coast network.
